Folks,

Welcome Olson Insurance Agency to FM as a site sponsor. From the posts I deleted (sorry), Ole might be able to help any of us with our ATV insurance. And, I'm sure he can help us out with our other recreational vehicles as well.

Thanks for joining the FM crew.

Thanks for the welcome Ray.

I have already insured quite a few FMer's, for auto, boat, ATV, motorcycle and RV's. I've got some very good prices on ATV's and Motorcycles right now, of course the premium depends alot on driving record. For anyone that has made the mistake of getting a DWI, I can help you out as well. I actually have insured an individual with a DWI, and his wife for less than they were paying before he got the DWI, with one of the major insurance companies in the country. So if I can be of any assistance, please send me an email or give me a call.

Ole

So what are you all considering full coverage? Liability only? Or ? Allstate wanted to change me like $250 for 6 months of "full" coverage, but the liability coverage only was about $60.

fishermn,

When people talk about "full coverage" what they're refering to is liability, comprehensive and collision. If you're interested in a quote on ATV Ins. you can give me a call on Tues. june 1st., I'll be back in the office after a little fishing.

Thanks, thats exactly what I thought. Allstate came back with a cost of over $250 for that type of coverage. Maybe should be looking around for a better quote then.

Thanks again,
D

fishermn,
Give me a call or send me an email, I'll tell you the info. I need from you and I'll give you a quote. Just to let you know, I have a 1994 Yamaha Big Bear 350, I carry $100k/$300k/$50k on liability, with $100 deductibles on comp./coll. and I pay $76/year. No guarantee's I can get the price that low for you, but it's an example.

Ole, Thanks for giving me a better deal on insurance for my toys than my previous insurance carrier.

I got both of my street bikes and both of my ATV's insured w/$100 deductibles for about the same price as just my 2 bikes were before w/$250 deductibles and no ATV's. I hate paying for insurance, so why pay any more than I have too?

Give Ole a call, I did and I am happy.

Chopper,

Thanks for the "plug", I'm happy I was able to help you out and save you a few bucks!! I know how painful it is to pay ins. so when ever I can help somebody save a few bucks in premiums it's pretty nice.

Thanks Ole

Knoppers,

The price kinda depends on your age, driving record, size and cost of ATV and your garaging address.

If you're interested, give me a call and I'll do a free quote for you, I "may" be able to save you some $$$.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
