Mushroom book,/class/group

So long story short I used to go mushroom hunting with my uncle in Spain for years, would love to get back into it here in MN. Anybody know of a good resource? Book? Class? Group?

The mushrooms here are completely different so I have no clue which ones are good.

Minnesota Mycology Society...I think is what they call themselves. I was once a member and learned a ton. At the time the had group foray's scheduled around the state and a 'classroom' time, too.

In terms of books, there are a few that are pretty commonly recommended. Michael Kuo's "100 Edible Mushrooms" and David Arora's "Mushrooms Demystified" are the two I use most frequently. Arora's book is pretty old by now, and there's been a TON of new taxonomy done on lots of mushrooms since them--which essentially means that his ID's for genera and species are often "wrong."

As Jameson said, joining a group and/or attending a foray are probably the quickest ways to learn. Most of the forays are near the Twin Cities area, and a few are down in SE MN, too.

Thanks for the Minnesota Mushrooms link Jameson. I plan on joining this year. I've hunted Morels for a few years now but just got into other mushrooms this year. The classes and outings look cool. I think a membership would be $25 well spent.

Just order Michael Kuo's 100 edible mushrooms. Going to do a little study and be ready for spring this year, if it ever comes.
