Preferred Rod Length

I have a 6'-6" St. Croix Avid medium power fast action rod. I do a lot of Texas rigging and fishing with Senkos and other soft jerk baits. For some reason the 6'-6" seems too short and I never ever use this rod. If it were 7' I'd love this rod. I'm considering selling this rod and buying a Shimano Crucial 7'-3" medium power. Do you other guys like 6'-6" rods or do you lean towards the 7'+ like me?

All my rods are 7' or more except one as well. That's a 6'6" medium Shimano Compre and it's my spinnerbait rod. I want accuracy when I'm tossing next to trees or snags. Of course I need to be accurate which is another debate:)

Thanks for the input everyone. It's a high-quality rod with great feel. Maybe I'm just not using it for the right applications and maybe I don't have it matched up with the right reel. What would your guys suggestions be for applications and reel for this rod?

Craigums beat me to the punch, I have the same rod (casting) and use it for top water twitch baits, 1/2 oz or less spinnerbaits, and occasionally chatter baits. I'm partial to Lews tournament mg series reels, if this is a casting set up.
