ur bobbers up
Having a wheelhouse built that will hold a ranger so thinking of going rubber floor for mud and fish slime but don't want to if there are any negative issues. Any thoughts?
The_King48
I think the only negative is it might be a little slick. If I got the choice I will do rubber in mine just for the ease of clean up.
Bureaucrat
Never thought of it. Would it be any heavier vs carpet?
traveler
I just put rubber flooring in my wheelhouse, for quiet and non-slip footing. I've also put it in a couple rental houses, they like it for the same reasons.
RiverChuckNorris
Rubber without question. Have had it for two seasons and slipping hasn't been an issue
slammer
I would use some of the new sheet vinyl available at flooring stores. Its almost an 1/8" thick and solid vinyl, no paper backing and does not need to be glued down. Easy to cut in and might not be much more than your rubber squares. Heavy stuff and comes in some nice tile patterns. 12ft wide and cut to length. Any seams would need glue. If your house is under 12ft long you could have a seamless floor. Easy to clean also. ur bobbers up
Wouldn't the vinyl expand and shrink to much? Rubber is heavier and more expensive than carpet but those are the 2 options I have. Never asked about vinyl. 22' x 8.5' house with the V. I've only seen the rubber in pictures but it seems like the way to go especially if we use it for deer hunting also.
Bothun
it doesnt get slippery and dries out much faster than carpet. if the floors wet use a shammy to soak up any water. not sure why someone would ever put carpet in there house.. fishnowworknever
Are you talking a permanent rubberized floor? I'd think about putting down some tuffcoat or something similar over a fiberglass reinforced floor. You could always throw down a rug or something on top of that some of the times... ur bobbers up
Aluminum sub frame, green treat plywood and then either carpet or rubber. Not sure how thick the rubber will be, will have to find out. Will also be spray foamed underneath plywood.

traveler
I'd think the vinyl would still be slippery. Maybe not overly so, bot still more slick than rubber. There are several outlets for rubber flooring...a google search will give you some options. Most of it is 4 ft wide by whatever legnths you need. It can be installed with glue, loose laid, or double face taped, which is what I chose to do this time. It's pretty heavy stuff, depending on thickness so it should stay in place just fine. I used 5/16 inch thick stuff, theres 1/4 to 1/2 inch available, I put some 1/2 inch in last year and it was crazy heavy (only came in 4x6 foot pieces...I wouldn't recommend it. I'd avoid the very cheapest stuff...sometimes called crumb rubber, it will crumble over time and it looks to be a little less dense, perhaps it would hold water or be more pourous. Ontherocks
Do a search for Coin Pattern Rubber Flooring. One of the local "save big money" retailers has it in 7.5X17ft rolls.
Lip_Ripper Guy
I would never do carpet in a toyhauler-type wheel house. You'll never have clean or dry carpet.Rubber or a paint on bedliner type are good options. I did paint on bedliner in 3 fish houses. It worked really good on two of them with Advantech flooring. The only house I did a green treated floor on the bedliner peeled up immediately, but it was also the Rustoleum brand, rather than Herculiner. I don't know which if it was the plywood or the bedliner that was bad. The only thing I didn't like is there is a texture to the floor, which is a challenge to clean.Current house has carpet. No question the whole house, and especially the floor, is warmer. It gets wet, but dries pretty quickly with the forced air furnace and ceiling fan. I like carpet, but it isn't for everybody. fishnowworknever
Look at that tuffcoat stuff. It's extremely durable, waterproof and anti slip.
chris_gillespie
I have a rubber floor and prefer it to carpet. Very easy to clean. The only drawback is it will expand and bubble a little in the summer heat. That could probably be avoided entirely if it is installed on a hot summer day. Ontherocks
http://outdooradserver.com/adpeeps/adpee...ain&btype=3Is the rubber in your house glued down?
chris_gillespie
I don't think it's glued at all. The walls are sandwiched on top of it, and the Catch Covers hold it in place too.
ur bobbers up
Thanks for all the advice. Most likely staying away from carpet but will ask about the vinyl and bedliner stuff. Going to have at least 12 holes so I would think that would help with the expanding and contracting of a rubber floor.
Redlineracer12
Do a search for Coin Pattern Rubber Flooring. One of the local "save big money" retailers has it in 7.5X17ft rolls. That's what I bought for mine too. Works great for deer camp and ice fishing duties. I haul wheelers occasionally and it's nice not to have to worry about carpet.I fired up my furnace and had it about 90 degrees in the house (summer day) when I screwed the catch covers down. It still has some slight ripples on the warm summer days, but it's pretty good now.
