That is no wisconsin kill tag on it are tags are bright green. Road kill tag dont think so you get apeice of paper from sheriff for a tag so just dont know

The tag on the head is not the tag the licensed hunter puts on the deer. It looks to be the metal tag the registration station puts on the deer. I do not know if they give you a metal tag for a road killed deer in WI.

Its an awesome deer. I am hoping it was an archery kill by the guy holding it. My opinion, based solely on the picture, is that it is a road kill deer. The deer isn't field dressed, the deer looks to be somewhat bloated, there are no visible entrance or exit wounds, the picture is in a bed of a pick-up truck, and the guy isn't dressed in hunting clothes etc. I agree that every one of those points can be argued against. However the circumstantial evidence on a whole make me think its a road killed deer. I hope I am wrong.

I'd guess there's a story behind it that doesn't involve a "typical" hunt. I'm not suggesting foul play, just thinking road kill too. I can't imagine moving that thing anywhere with the guts in it just from the weight standpoint. That thing is an absolute BEAST! What a deer!

In WI there is a green site tag that is supposed to go on an antler. Once registered the station will also attach a metal tag on the antler. Road kill tags in WI are small tan paper tags. Can't tell in the picture, just clearing up the WI tag questions.
