Agronomist_at_IA
Ok I got a double vision last year. I've also got a nice showdown. I'm left wit a very nice pro pack when I put my FL 20 in the double vision. Would you sell the pro pack and dual transducer? Buy a new head unit, if so which one? Should I drop the showdown? I had an FLX28 coming, but they didn't have one or knew when it would come in so I canceled it.
highlife4me
I have 3 Vexilars, an 8, a 12 and a 20. All three work perfectly an wouldn't consider ever selling one. I have friends and family that like to fish but can not justify buying a locator for the few times a year they go out. I supply the equipment and they supply the bait and beverages and gas.If I were you I would look for the best deal on a used head. Be it an 8 or 22 or something in between. Always nice to have a spare for a loaner especially if you have a kid along on the ice.
Dirtdigger
Would not sell a thing.. Never have to many locators.. Some new many want ice fish.. It's nice to have locators for everyone. A spare is always handy to.
Lusid
I would just buy a FL8 and call it a day. But since the Ultra case came off a FL20, your connectors would be different.. So 12/20/28 are your options unless you changed the power plugin.

WalleyeChaser
Keep the pro pack! Its carrying an extra battery for those weekend trips in a sleeper. Or if you want to lighten the load for an early or late ice trip and you don't want/need the camera, slap the 20 back on it. You could also rig up a gps unit off the boat if you have one so you have a bigger screen for mapping and searching out new lake structure! Actually the 1-2 trips a year I go on where I use a sleeper shack is what is keeping me from selling the showdown. Battery life and battery switch out on it is great. Rikkus
After returning from Last Year's Annual Ice Fishing Trip, my Fishing stopped by to pick up his share of the Bounty. He brought his Little Ice Fishing Buddy with him, a 12 year old Gent that just loves any form of fishing. He is also in a Ice Fishing Club at school. My friend said they are heading to Gander Mountain to pick up a Birthday Gift for him. I went to my Ice Fishing Gear, pulled out the Old FLT 8, the extra Transducer & a New Spare Battery, and gave it to him.I never seen eyes get that wide. My Buddy has the same unit. So, this youngster appreciated all even more. The extra gear doesn't get used, takes up space and with the electronics, they required a bit of attention. I did not use the Vexilar the last couple trips. This beginner will be polishing it, getting it ready for hard water fishing in July,... Sounds like it was a great gift that he will always remember.Well, I ended up moving the FL20 head Back onto the Ultra Pack. I will have an FLX-28 Head for the Double Vision by the end of the week. Ended up Selling the Showdown Unit on HSOList. Kinda glad to see it go.
