strikemaster electra lazer or ion?

Need an electric auger for inside the shack. I like the fact that the batteries for the Strikemaster are the same as the ones for my Vex and camera. Are the lazer blades as fragile as I've heard? Is the Ion a lot more powerful?

Thanks

I have a strikemaster electra and have now problems with it. I can usually make it a weekend on one charge for my wheelhouse drilling 6 holes per setup. Usually move 2-3 times a weekend. And it is nice to have a backup battery from your vex..

I've never owned an Electra but have seen them used before, I do own an ION. The ION is so much faster and it work very well to reopen old holes and you will get more holes per battery then the Electra.

Are there any generic replacement batteries for the Ion? They look similar to ones on some power tools

The Ion batteries are like 40v, and expensive.

The advantage of the electra or big volt is that they will run off a 12V car battery if you have one handy (often the case in wheelhouses). I am not sure what I would get if I was buying again but I have the electra and it works fine. Only issues I ever have are when it's about to punch through the bottom of the ice and it binds up a little. Never have run out of battery though since I charge it between outings. We have an old 2 stroke Lazer for hole hopping so I don't use it for that.

Electra lazer sucks. I own one and would never tell anyone to buy it.

My buddy says the same thing. It drills a very limited number of holes painfully slow. Also catches on the bottom of every hole.

He loves my Ion and wishes they were out a couple years sooner....
