walleyeking19
What makes a named lake legal to hunt ducks/geese on? I cant find anything on the DNR site so I figured you guys could help! Thanks!
dan z
Any lake with emergent weeds is huntable as long as your away from houses/cabins. I've even hunted lakes without weeds. Hide the boat down the shoreline with tree limbs and hide in the trees and it can be good. I've never been told I couldn't hunt.
RumRiverRat
You can hunt right in front of a house or cabin.500 foot rule does not apply when you are on the water.
Proskier2038
500ft away from building if I'm notMistaken- emergent weeds, and not in city limits- lake waconia... For example can be hunted on the north/ northwest side, but south and east side are within city limits And therefore illegal to hunt . jparrucci
500 foot rule for waterfowl only applies to livestock not structures. Most cities do have their own regulations so check the city itself as they may have a distance from homes/structures or firearm discharge rules. strait-meat
RRR (my friend) is correct. however city/town laws can trump state law--for example, the city of dayton has a 1500ft rule from buildings even if over water. so check with the city/town/police before you hunt it.The thought is you are shooting over water and in the air and that is why you can shot in front of a house on the lake--the residents won't like it but make sure you are hunting in vegetation. Just make sure not to have any shot fall down on a house or you will get a ticket for reckless discharge.also access has to be from public/road right-away or from a private land-owner to get to the lake.good luck
Stringerless!
City of Wyoming is 500 feet. Even if you are the landowner . Ridiculous !
123fish
That is very interesting RRR. I never new that you could do that over water. Has anybody ever actually done that? Set up fifty yards in front of an occupied dwelling and start cranking at o'dark thirty? I could never do that. You are going to get a butt chewing legal or not. If the homeowner says anything or tries to interfere with your hunt they are guilty of hunter harassment.
