set up for ripley youth hunt

I was thinking about setting up the boy in a portable and then setting up the ground blind 50 or 60 yards behind him for me. he is 15 so I don't have to sit right next to him and I am sure he would prefer it that way being that age. It looks to be a tad windy this weekend and we like the Area up north with the bigger ridges and hills where the wind can really swirl. My question is do you think I am putting him at a disadvantage being on the ground even that far behind him ? It sure would be nice kicked back in the blind and maybe doing some filming.

I'm not a fan of blinds either unless they are really brushed in good or have been sitting there for a few weeks. I think you might be alright if you can keep the blind down wind of the hunter by at least 40 yards. They are nice to have if its raining and to hide the movement and sounds of young kids or sleeping mentors. wink

We will be bringing 2 climbers and 2 hang-ons, in case their aren't any good branchless trees for the climbers at the spot we want to hunt.

The cooler weather forecasted on Sat and Sun will hopefully get the deer moving.

I plan on taking lots of pictures and videos.
