archerystud
Had Kadri not been ejected someone on the Wild would have had to go after him.I did like Brodziak manhandled Phaneuff late in the third.
CaptainMusky
Classic hockey interview by Granlund in the 2nd intermission. "We got to get da pucks to de net and ah that's how we win the game." Lol Reminds me almost of the goalie interview from slapshot. CaptainMusky
I did like Brodziak manhandled Phaneuff late in the third. Phaneuff was smoked by two guys on one play. Perhaps the same one you are talking about.I had never heard of that Padri character, but he sure showed up last night. What a scumbag. Kind of reminds of the game Cooke USED to have. At least, that is how I pictured him. :-)

fishing tech
I think Konopka broke his nose again last night. Kadri got 3 games for the hit on Backstrom. He should get 3-4 more for the hit on Granlund. Melrose, Jones, and Roeneck wanted someone to step up from the Wild but as they said, the Wild have nobody. 10,000 Casts
Nope we don't have anyone... And now we have one hurt goalie and one sick goalie. And we almost had Granlund out with a concussion. This was another example how fighting police's the game and how it's necessary. Toronto knew they had to play a physical dirty game and there was nothing the Wild could do. Even if Konopka doesn't break his nose, he is worthless as an enforcer. If he got 10 games it would of cost him almost $150,000. He would think twice before doing it again. We don't need to waste a roster spot on a thug. Roster spots are to important come playoff time. I belive the Redwings and Penguins never had one during their cup wins.

10,000 Casts
Quote: We don't need to waste a roster spot on a thug. well, when you play teams in the East you do.. Bruins have thorton, Habs have Parros, Leafs have Orr Sens have Kassian, Sabres have Scott, Pens have Engelland etc. And those are all (except Buffalo) perenial playoff teams. A thug protects your best players and polices the ice. IMO as soon as Kadri got out of the box, someone should have been waiting for him. It will be interesting when Brian Magrattan/Cal and Patrick Bordeleau/Col come to town now that it isn't a secret that Minny will shy away from tilts. MIN played 3/4 of that Leafs game on their heals and they were lucky to get the W. After we outplayed Toronto up there, they knew they had to come in and push us around.. Not so sure agree with you 10,000....after going online and listening to the Press Conferences of Yeo, Pom, and Parise, they were very informative...you should listen to them, they pretty much explain the overall team philosophy and strategy they live by. In a nutshell, any team can play tough by taking penalties but if you get into a tit for tat mentality you get out of your game which for the Wild is Puck Possession. I guess I am starting to drink "Yeo's Koolaide" and maybe he learned a lot after last year's subpar performance and finish because the Wild are now in the top 10 NHL Power Ranking at #9 and earning the respect of everyone. Bear55
Ok who hacked bb's account? I think you almost have to throw out last year when talking about coaching, that season was throw together so fast with so many new faces it was crazy. OnAFly
Here's the rationalization that makes the most sense to me:You might lose a couple games a year from be outmatched physically. How many do you win by out playing the other team? A whole lot more.
10,000 Casts
Your #1 goalie is out indefinitely with a concussion and may be long term and could even be career ending. Now we have a #1 goalie with MS and 2 totally unproven back ups. would that hit of happened if we had say Matt Kassian? I understand there are different team game plans and make ups but in all the years we had Boogaard and Kassian, Backs never got ran like that.
archerystud
I would only argue it's our #2 goalie that's currently out. However, after last year with Backs running out of gas you can bet Yeo is going to be playing 2 goalies a little more often this year. OnAFly
I don't think a Boogaard or a Kassian is really good for us in the big picture. What they make up for in toughness, they severely lacked skill. We don't need a goon to send a message to a pest.

CaptainMusky
Those guys were pylons on the ice at best. How many shifts a game did they average? Not many. Which puts more pressure on the other lines seeing more ice time and more prone to injury. The way to eliminate plays like kadri is for the league to severely come down on those plays. 3 games is nothing. Should have been 10.I would like to see more physical forwards and a d man but IMO you don't need a goon to succeed.
10,000 Casts
Sounds like Ryan Miller is going to be dealt very soon.. I wonder what it would take to get him to MN?
maxpower117
Sounds like Ryan Miller is going to be dealt very soon.. I wonder what it would take to get him to MN? Why? We have the best goalie in the league.
CaptainMusky
Statistically Harding is doing great but what is the insurance policy if he goes down? Who knows how MS is going to impact him a few years from now. Backstrom has injury problems and really isn't a #1 goalie IMO anymore.I'd be in for a Ryan miller deal provided the price is right and doesn't cost us a lit of our youth. 10,000 Casts
Trade Backs, Heatley and a second round pic? Pay 3/4 of Heatleys remaining salary so they'll take him.. Buffalo wants to rebuild and Backs is a cheap goalie for a couple years..117, you think Harding can keep this up? I hope your right!

Not sure they would wants Backs and Heatley if they are rebuilding, give them 4 players of their choice from the Iowa club. If we are as deep as we claim to be we could afford it and Miller would be awesome to split time with Harding...but can we afford him? 10,000 Casts
Right now he makes about the same as dany all star heatley. I think it would depend on how much they value goaltending vs 2 more dmen or another stud first liner and if they think they can roll with backs and Harding for a couple years. CaptainMusky
Another win and we are now in 5th place in the Western Conference. Colorado has come back to Earth now, but its still wide open for anyone. The Wild have played a couple more games than some of teams they are ahead of so this could get dicey.Pretty frightening to think that they have won 7 or 8 and really have gone nowhere in the standings. The West is TOUGH this year. They would be First overall in the East!
