ok i was looking at the 898 hd si humminbird... i see they have an external antenna vs lowrance is internal.. i thought it would be nice to use the monitor for ice fishing when driving across the lake.. correct me if im wrong but the bird would not work in your truck?

No, the 898 has a puck. Though I am not a big fan of Lowrance since their customer service stinks!!!!!!!! The internal gps of the HDS does work great stting on the dash of your truck driving accross the ice.

That is what i do in the winter when i go ice fishing. It is a lot nicer to look at then my little hand held. I just purchased a cord to plug it in my truck.

I like the 898 hd si found real good price.. But looking at were I want may take some work.. I have 97 Lund tyee not much room with curved windsnield any one have a tyee with pics

I just picked up a H-bird 788 with DI for a great price on amazon.

I was not in a big hurry to get a unit so I just put a couple of units on my wish list on amazon. Prices do fluctuate and you can save quite a bit if you catch a low point.
