icecold
Can anyone recomend a chest wader that wont break the bank, I have very little to spend but need a chest wader for duck hunting, I dont stand in cold water other than to go retreive a duck then i am back on shore, is there any wader for 50-75 that seems to hold up for a year or 2 how are the Hodgeman Mackenzie series or Alan Brules.? fishuhalik
Is there any way you can save another $100 in the next couple mmonths before season starts? Take $15 a week outta your checks? You can get a solid pair of insulated waders outta the bargain cave at cabelas for about $150, and they'll last for a lot longer. I've put 1 really rough fall & spring season on mine that I paid $140 last year & they still look brand new
BoxMN
I got a cheapie pair at Cabelas (I use neoprene stocking foot waders) and used them for years, only a couple easy-patch barbed wire holes. Got a mid priced Gander brand neoprene stocking foot waders and they have had to be sealed on all sticking, and still can't fix a hole in the foot, somewhere. My next pair will be back at Cabelas for sure. Maybe I just got lucky.FYI - the stocking foot is the best style for NoDak IMO, as you do a lot of walking and the boots are just like walking in hiking boots, not heavy clunky wader-boots. A bit more of a pain to put on and take off, but they dry out easier too - just turn them inside out!Good luck.
onthefly
Hey - I never considered the stocking foot - that's a great tip! Hiked a 1/2 mile back in 6" of snow to an open spot on a river carrying a bag of goose floaters, shotgun, shells, etc. The walk out was worse cause I was carrying 2 big honkers!Would have loved to have some boots that laced up and were easier to walk in!Thanks for the tip! Walleye Guy
Cabelas Dry-plus. They won't break the bank, are easy to put on and take off and you can walk around comfortable in them. In cold weather wear a pair of wader liners. Extremely versatile.
