Fishing Trip

Alright me and a buddy of mine are wanting to go on a fishing trip before school starts here soon. We were thinking of going to Vermillion but looking closer LOW is closer for us. We are wanting to get in to the small mouth and mabey walleye a little. Any one have a opinion between those to lakes or even a different one. And if you have been there any good resorts?

Ballard's Resort or their Black Island resort in Canada.

If going into Canada is a possible option, the LOW would be great. If your willing to drive about an extra hour east, rainy lake would also be a good choice.

I not that familiar with the smallmouth bite on the US side of LOW, but I've never known or heard of anybody going there to target smallmouth. Rainy is a good bet for smallmouth and walleyes. Vermillion is a good lake as well, but its very busy until after Labor Day. My preference would be Rainy.

I would love to go across the border but the problem with that is im 17.

Man you guys have a world class walleye factory right in your back yard

We were on Devils a couple weeks ago and had the trip of a lifetime! We caught hundreds of walleyes. Most of which were 14-17", some bigger, some smaller. Also got into a few slob pike. It was one of the best open water fishing experiences I've ever had

Spiritwood Lake in ND has tons of big smallies. If you are going to go to MN I would suggest Rainy Lake for smallies.

I dont mind fishing for walleye, i do it a fair amount just because the nearest lake with bass is a ways away. Iv fished devils quite a few times with luck but i just have and always have loved bass fishing. So many different lures and tactics you can throw at them.

I fished spirit wood two weekends ago, caught lots of fish but i think the biggest may have been 14inches. Ill keep rainy lake in mind when i start doing more looking. If any one has any other lake throw them out! i love fishing new water, always something different to learn.

Was just doing some researching on Rainy, Looks like a neat lake with some big smallies in it. Any one have a resort preference they have been to or hurd some good reviews about it?

Pretty tough to beat Woody's Fairly Reliable for a resort on Rainy Lake.
