Biggest Brook Trout!

Mnfisher

Recommended Posts

Last week, I caught my biggest Brookies ever in a Northern Mn stream. They are usually less than 12" where I fish (have only fished for them a couple of years). I caught one 14", 13 1/2 " and 11 1/2 ". What size have others caught in Mn northern streams? How about Lake Superior streams? I'll be looking for some more next week!!!

If you fish from Lake Superior to the first major falls you could find a coaster brook trout. But they must be over 20 inches to keep one. I have not yet got one of those monster to bite. I have got them up to 18 inches, but that was while I was fishing for Salmon and the brook season is closed. If you are willing to hike into areas of a stream that do not get fished very much you can catch some in the 12-15 inch range. Lately I have not got a brookie out of stream over 14 inches, but I know I release all of the brookies from streams over 12. So there is a chance those fish could now be in 15-18 inch range. I have found the place to find the biggest brookies is beaver ponds.
