Fancy Gizmos driving me nuts Yukon Denali

Recommended Posts

OK, I absolutely love this truck, but a couple of these fancy creature comforts are driving me bonkers. The one I can ignore because I dont see much value in it in the first place, while the other, concerns me.

"Service Park Assist" on the DIC -- Ignore. Annoying message whenever I put vehicle in gear, but since I do not have a backup camera, I could care less.

"Service Suspension System" -- this one is concerning because I dont want to end up dropped like some gangbanger. Normally when I start up the truck I can here the pump run, but recently it hasnt been running. The light doesnt come on every time I start it, but usually at least once a day.

The shocks appear to be working fine, the last time the pump ran was when I pulled my boat and it leveled the load nicely.

I had noticed that it seemed to run a long time and even often while driving down the road or at a drive thru I would periodically hear it. Which seemed odd.

Im headed to Canada on a fishing trip in two weeks and this bugs and worries me.

Im sure much of it is crud in the connectors, but I have no idea where to even start. I need to take a day off and just lay under this sucker to figure things out.

I would assume I could bench test this pump and check voltage TO the unit, but not sure how to accomplish that. I have hear some folks aay the vents or something get clogged and it doesnt allow them to release pressure, which could be the case because I think its still pumped up harder from when I pulled the boat.

Ideas? I have a short attention span and when I start working on something if it doesnt go well I give up and then work on it another day. LOL

That is a good thought, perhaps the pump burned out now because of always running, but it definitely doesnt start up anymore. Grrr. Thought about removing the air line connections and replacing with a valve that I could just manually pump them up. REDNECK, but maybe it would work? LOL

brother in law had same problem on his denali. on his, the pump was completely corroded because of road salt. said it wasn't protected at all. the shop told him those things aren't made for a mn winter. if you're handy, it might be a fairly simple diy project to replace the pump

Ryan, you are definitely right. It is mounted on the outside of the frame just in from the driver's side rear tire. NOTHING protects it. Ridiculous and obviously "planned obsolescence" at work.

I did check the fuse this morning and it was fine. Then I discovered there is another fuse, LOL, which I havent checked yet. Teaches me I need to look at the ENTIRE fuse block and not just fine the "first" one that meets my criteria. If I end up having to replace this pump, its going to get some sort of protection around it.
