Hookmaster
My friend's trim and tilt on the floor and the bow went out last weekend. The trim and tilt on the tiller still works. He said it went out while he was trimming the motor. Where should he start troubleshooting?
TruthWalleyes
If it makes any noise at all then the motor/pump is still working.Does it not go up at allBlown gasket in the piston? What's the symptoms.
fivebucks
When you say it still works on the tiller do you mean the motor still works and he can raise and lower the motor? If so then is there a trim switch "on the floor" and "on the bow" for a total of 3 trim switches? If that is the case it sounds like a blown fuse to me that was caused by a new short somewhere. 10,000 Casts
Start with the fuse and replace it no matter what. It's probably a 5 amp fuse, if that doesnt work Then follow the cord into the motor and make sure it didn't come unhooked.
boatfixer
It's not a fuse or hydraulic issue. You didn't mention the year and hp so I'm not sure if it has solenoids or relays. But either way, you'll have to trace the red, green and blue wires from either solenoid it relays to the switch in the tiller. Somewhere along the line, there should be a connector or splices that run to the foot switch and bow switch. You can use a test light to look for the loss of power. Hookmaster
I believe it is a 2002 boat with a 2002 F80 Yamaha.
