A little rust... A little help???

Recommended Posts

I have an 02' F150 that I bought with 30k miles on it now has around 165. I would like a new one but funds just are not there right now. Problem is there is a little rust spot that started now. I am wondering if there is a cheap way to fix this for a year or two until I do have the funds in order to buy a newer one. I have attached a picture so you can see it. Its located on the driver side in front of the rear wheel.

Mine has one just like it, there is a brace that is welded to the back side, and they rust from the back side forward. Best way, replace it, second best way, cut it out, and weld in a new piece. Cheapest, let er go. I chose the last option.

I got an estimate to cut it out and put new piece in and that was around 600 bucks... Just dont want to spend that much on it right now but at the same point hate the way it looks! just wondering if there is a cheap option to make it look decent again....

Just spraying over rust with a color that is close is the cheapest cover up you are going to get. Anything else like trying to fill it with bondo and all that dump is just a waste of time and a bandaid as well. There's no shame in a little rust- I don't like mine either but hey- a lot of us out there match. In MN it's going go happen- i think it's kind of 'cool'. lol
