Acupunture?

fishing tech

Question

I have had 2 back surgeries, the next 1 will be a fusion. Any way after my 2nd surgery I had an allergic reaction to the pain meds and now I am unable to take any including Tylenol. One Dr suggested acupuncture for pain relief. Has anyone else tried this? If so did it work?

I had ligament problems in one of my knees from playing basketball in highschool and college ...... I had several acupuncture treatments on that knee and they might have helped ..... they sure didn't hurt .... I would do them again if needed.

I rotated a vertabrea in 1993 and pinched a nerve. My shoulders were a mess and I was in and out of various chiropractors till about 2005 when the last one got tired of chasing the problem around. He did acupuncture and that was the last time I had to be seen.

I still remember the knot and pain disappearing as he pulled the last needle out. it was amazing.

I'm a believer.

You might get some pain relief from spastic muscles with acupuncture, but your not going to touch spine/nerve pain. Have you had a cortisone/epidural injection to relieve pain and swelling at the area? Also, there are a lot of pain meds out there. An allergy to one doesn't mean your stuck with Tylenol. My guess it the doc didn't think you were in much pain to offer such a weak solution.

I have had 2 injection 2 weeks a part. They lasted a short time. The only pain meds I haven't tried are Morphine and Dalaudid. I had morphine after surgery in the hospital but not after that. Nor do I care to take it. Anything with acetamediphen in it I am allergic to so I can't even take Tylenol. We figure that out when I had some cough medicine with that in it.

Thanks for the comments. I think I will give it a try. It certainly can't hurt. Thanks again.
