painting a bathroom

Coon

Recommended Posts

I'm a little concerned. I repainted the bathroom a different color and the paint is kinda just laying on and not really biting in. Even after the second coat. Just kinda randomly here and there. Both were bathroom paints. Can't remember if original was oil base or not. I dont think it was. This stuff is latex also. We washed the walls down, but should I have primed again first?

I would sand the walls with a sander like the dry wall guys use or I think they call it a speed stick. this should help. you don't have to sand hard just enough to knock the hard layer off, then I would prime it with a stain blocker primmer like Kilz.

I have a painting company,These days we use paint and primer in one.Use an eggshell finish and a quarter inch nap roller. You probeley used to thick of a nap roller.Do not roll heavy coats in a bathroom ,your asking for trouble.Bathrooms also take a long time to cure to there fullest

Agree with Jeremy.

Bathrooms being relatively small with built up humidity from the paint plus its a bathroomm then a good chance you painted over a gloss. It'll take longer for the paint to dry and depending on the nap of the roller and thickness of coat even longer. If the first coat isn't dry it'll smear on the second coat.

Now you the surface is flashed with two coats of wet paint under it.

Give it time it'll dry/cure.
