How to fix my spool.

lispeej

Question

What are you guys using to fix your reels? The top of my spool has nicks from my kids dropping them or setting them on hard surfaces, and are catching line as you are casting. This is a spinning reel.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Depending on how bad they are.Try steel wool( as said) first to see if that works. If not; then try light sanding.Worse case a file, but then follow up with sand paper, then steel wool. BE gentle!!!

all depends on how many lures and fish you want to loose, if your spool has a nick in it, then its damaging your line.. plain and simple. if you must, I would go the sand paper route or maybe paint it with a fingernail polish? or some other coating to make it smooth again.
