It looks like about 1/3 to 1/2 the seats are empty on the warm-up laps. A few years ago this was a very tough ticket to get. Is the racing going to be worth talking about?

If something isn't broke don't fix it.

It looks like there are more empty seats than full ones. Economy still that bad or does Nascar just suck that much lately? I guess it is probably both.

$350+ hotel rooms (on race weekends) you have to get in the middle of nowhere a fair distance from the track, a craptastic national economy which doesn't help matters, and weather this time of year that can be hit or miss are probably the larger factors. It didn't help that the track reconfiguration came about the time the economy was in the dump which just compounded the issue.

My wife and I stayed within 24 miles of the track and paid if I remember correclty, $125 a night, that was in a private home. Did not pay $350.00 plus. We found numerous places for this price.

If you make plans well enough in advance, one can get rooms in town for under $200.00 or like $300.00 for the weekend. Again, staying in private homes.
