Frozen locks and doors

Recommended Posts

Belinda said heavy rain turning to snow on Saturday. What is the best way to prevent frozen locks and doors? Tape over the lock? What is the best way to solve the problem if you end up with things frozen?

Thanks for your time.

Like Flyfisher said. I've put a squirt of WD40 in the lock using the snorkel every Fall for many, many, years, and never had a lock freeze yet. At the same time, I usually wipe some pure silicone spray on the rubber door gaskets and lock latch. Works for me. wink

Seafoam Deep Creep. It has a drying agent and a lubricant and has 100's of uses. And it's made in minnesota!

Something else you can do. Wipe all the door seals with silicone spray. This will keep the door from freezing to the moldings/seals.

If your locks don't freeze up after running through a car wash than you probably won't have an issue this weekend.

I do this every fall on my Ranger or I'm sure to get a stuck door over the winter.

Also, I've heard NOT to use anything that's going to leave a sticky residue in the lock as its going to trap dirt and eventually gum up the tumbler.
