Hawg
Help out a lazy guy who tried the search. What comes up is about 10 pages of build threads whith the paint part hidden in a couple posts. What have you guys found to be the most bullit proof way of painting a frame? Bedliner-epoxy-or other special products? Powder coating is not an option, I'm a poor working stiff. low277
I have had good luck with frame paint by KBS coatings. similar to POR
Hawg
It's hard to tell coverage and how it relates to all the irregularities of a frame. Is the consistancy/vicosity of POR-15 similar to Rust-o-leum or is it a super thick product? Would an 8x16 frame take a whole gallon? All the corners and welds must take a lot of dabbing and use extra paint, wouldn't it? I just looked at KBS and they say a quart will do a full sized car frame, with TWO COATS! There must be some differences in products. Looks like I better do more digging. Did anyone using POR-15 use 2 coats?
Hawg
I've been watching UTube videos and product info videos on their websites. Both products look similar to me but none of the POR-15 talk about two coats where KBS does. The stuff has great coverage, I'm thinking 2 quarts TOPS, maybe 1 even. Anybody thinking of using this watch the videos for tips, it'll save you some heartache and expense. The stuff cures so fast that you can't even use it out of the can without it thickening up and sealing the can requires saran wrap or the lid cures on so hard it will never come off they say. They show hitting this stuff with hammers and even bending it on thin tin with no cracking or chipping. I think I'll try it.
