ONLY use Ford OEM head gaskets........as far as studs go, ARP are the only good studs to use in the 6.0.........Reading through this post, it definitely sounds like you may have a cracked head, or blown head gasket. Usually a blow head gasket will over pressurize the coolant overflow tank, and leak out of the cap. If its not doing that I would look at other things besides the head gaskets.

Also get rid of the Bully dog Tuner..........there have been MANY people that have had issues because of those. The only good tuners for the 6.0 are made by SCT.

If you go with an arp stud kit, any time you have to do the head gaskets, including the installation of the studs, the cab will have to come off the chasis. Usually if your head gaskets go its from a sticky turbo. Wichas stated above you should see allot of coolant and or chalky lines around your degass bottle cap. If not and you still have a lot of coolant loss with white smoke you may have a leaking egr cooler. A good way to check for a leaky egr cooler is to remove the egr valve and see if their is "sticky tar," soot soaked in coolant' if you see this the cooler is leaking. Replace the egr valve, oil and egr coolers. Ave someone steam clean your intake while its off too. Change oil and it may be a good idea to flush your coolant.

Lep, You sure a blank got that one right!!!! Nailed er right on the head... well, tugged it to the shop today, we will find out for sure whats up... hopefully... A closer look at it, and the oil is over full, and very light with a fuel smell... so... May just be a o ring issue on the injector... but... i don't see how that explains the white smoke... unless it blew the head gasket while turning it over with fuel in the cylinder... no idea if thats even possible...

Yes, its not the first time she's blown the white cloud... the egr burst a year and half ago...

Test drove a cummins mega cab with a manual 6 speed.... never drove one before... but very impressed with the truck, not the 32,000 price tag on an 07 though... but pretty low miles...

We shall see what the 6.0 curse brings this time...

Here I am again.... SOoo.... I got a dies once hot, and no restart till it cools off...

I have a ford diesel tech working on it, with fords scanner... he says the injectors test out OK, and the HP oil system hold air pressure... He is debating on tearing into the injectors that we had issues with, or the HPOP... he is shying away from the pump because he has not seen many fail, and doesn't think its the cause due to the issue not present prior to the injectors being replaced... however, doesn't find an obvious issue with the injectors either...

we had the HPOP off a few days ago and put the STC fitting it... and also replaced the IPR again under warrenty as it was leaking air there... the old STC fitting was not leaking... however he had it tore down to that point, so we put in the update kit...

the IPR that came out had a few pieces of dump on the screen... SO question is... do we assume HPOP and replace that... or do we pull injectors and replace?

Thoughts appreciated... thanks

we went after the HPOP and replaced that... and then went to the oil just to check it out (mind you I specifically asked it be drained and replaced when it was at the shop hydro locked, AND i specifically asked if it was done when I picked it up and was told that it had most deffently had been...) and we happened to find the filter plugged up with crud... and then went to drain the oil... and drained a lot more than what should have been in there... and it was water thin... THEY NEVER DRAINED IT AFTER BEING HYDRO LOCKED WITH FUEL!!!!! Very well could have just been the thin oil and plugged filter causing the issue!!!! so... I guess we replaced the HPOP and a couple minor things along the way as we found any little issues... very happy with the guy i found to do the work on it this time, he did a thorough job I felt, and did the work quickly...

worked the living P out of it today tugging my lift down to wells bucking a 25MPH wind... it did well. not a single hiccup... and I ran it hard... So we'll see if it holds together. I plan to drop the oil again at 500 miles or so, and just make sure we get everything out of it hopefully... we'll see.
