DLD24
I am looking to go tully fishing soon and am going to buy a smoker first...Does anyone have this smoker and if so do you like it??? It seems nice, but all the reviews I've read either the people love them or they broke on them right away so I'm not sure about them...Also I read somewhere they have to be plugged right into the wall no extention cord can be used, any truth to this?? Also if you have a smoker you like thats a different brand let me know...I'm looking to spend around $200...Thanks for any info

Twisted
I have a 40" thast I love. The far right side has a hotter spot so a little rotation is necessary. Either that or I'm going to install a little heat deflector. I did about 150# of venison sausage and jerky as well as some birds in mine. I used an extention cord the whole time but I would suggest at least a 14ga or 12ga would be best. I would buy another one.
leechlake
I got one three years ago as a gift. It put together in a snap and it's worked flawlessly ever since. I don't take great care of my stuff and it just keeps working. I use it 2-3 times a month. The only issue is that in the cold months you receive an error message when trying to get it going (assuming you will get the digital temp setting). I researched it and what I found is that I needed to put a blow dryer or heat gun inside and close the door and get the inside warmed up for about a minute and then set the temp and it works. Not a huge hassle once you know the issue but it was frustrating at the time. Happens when its 20 degrees or less.
dfeste
I've had one for 4 or 5 years now and have had no issues with it. When it's cold out it will take it quite a while to reach higher temps and I think it maxes out a little over 200 degrees but not a big deal for fish and sausage. I do not get an error message but maybee it's a newer model thing.
leechlake
mine will go to 300 degrees. I smoke most things at 225 or so. Smoking is a great hobby that really gets addicting. Helps kill a lot of boring Winter days.
otterman91105
I have the 30'' model of this smoker and love it. Have not had a problem with it yet it's about three years old. Not sure about the extention cord never tried it. You won't be disappointed.
Hawg
The direct plug in is required only because of the power loss on cheap cords. They heat up and actually mely sometimes on real cheapies. If you use a good 12ga or better cord it's no different than the wiring from your electrical panel to the plug in.
lispeej
If I had to do it over again I'd get the digital model. Set it and forget it! I have two. One analog and a wood/charcoal (custom made). They both work great. You should look in this section.....This has been covered over and over. http://www.hotspotoutdoors.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2873583/
otterman91105
I love my digital model and they also hold heat really well in cold temps.
