TruthWalleyes
My recipe is quite similar, but come supper time i pull out all the meat/veggies and make gravy with the juice by adding milk and flower.
the squirrel
Sounds great but I think two bites would put me over my sodium quota for the day
SwivelDigger
Didn't see the need to try and make gravy. With the mushroom soup it made its own. The Au jus was in powder form not liquid so I only started with 1/2 cup water and the soup seemed to thicken up.
TruthWalleyes
I guessed i missed the part where you added the mushroom soup and can see how your recipe turned into a nice gravy!!I only put water in with my roast/veggies...Then make gravy right before din din time. BLACKJACK
Nothing easier to make for supper tha a roast, put in roaster with a sliced onion, cup of water, little salt and pepper, bake two hours at 350. Throw in potatoes at start of second hour. Salad or vegies on the side. Doesn't get any easier than that.
chanfish
+2 on that. yea i got a roast at home in the crockpot with potatoes, onion, salt, pepper, garlic and a bit of water..slow cook for ten hours and serve on hard rolls...something nice to come home to.. thats what i love about the crockpots...my new one has a timer and auto shutoff as well in case you are running late..stress free, handsoff cooking!! DonBo
Instead of water, we use beef broth.
chanfish
yes donbo. the recipe calls for water or beef broth...also put alittle tapioca in and you have a nice gravy as well..my old rival crockpot recipe book is over 25 years old and i havent found one thats even close to it..i make all kinds of chili, scalloped potatoes, shrimp creole, swiss steak etc in it..pretty rag tag but still going strong!! gotta reproduce it and laminate for the kids..
