Curly
My 7 month old black lab has been limping on her right front leg for about 3 months. I took her to the vet and they said she probably has OCD in her shoulder and they need to xray it to find out. This was in early August and the xrays showed nothing, the limp has not gotten better. The vet wants to look at her again and maybe xray again, he feels very strongly that she has OCD and will need surgery to fix it. My first lab and training is going really good, I can see she is going to be a great hunter and now I may be looking at a $700 surgery. What to do? Anybody have any experiance with this? bigdog
I second the University. They may require a referal form your vet but I would try first without it. Phone # is 612-625-1919
BLACKJACK
What is OCD?Talk to the breeder where you got the pup. Most reputable breeders will stand behind their dogs. If you were to get a new pup now, it would be ready to hunt by 2004.
Bryce
Without looking at our vet book to know exactly what OCD is, I will guess what that it a joint problem. If that is the case, I reccommend Dr. Levine in the metro area. He performed 2 knee surgery's on our old dog with great results. Operates out of several hospitals in the metro, last contact was through IGH Animal Hos. Without your profile filled out, I have no idea if this is anywhere near your area. Hope it helps.
