Jim Almquist
We are going to sell 2 used Iphone 3GS's. Is pulling the sim card good enough as far as releasing me from any liabilities ?Are they easier to sell if I make sure they are not tied to just one carrier ? Dellfin
Do a search for "wiping iPhone 3g". You will find simple instructions on how to clear the memory and reset without connecting to iTunes. As far as I'm concerned, nothing is ever gone forever on a device. But, at least the run-of-the-mill user will not have access to your old stuff.

Shack
Yep, sold many used iPhones and the wipe option does complete job. I have even accessed the system files after to see if the old data is held in a temp folder and could not find any trace of the old system or data to attempt a recovery of any kind. Jim Almquist
I thought that was a very cool option to wipe the phone. Now I just have to deal with the list people. I already have had 2 questionable responses
CAMAN
A hammer and concrete floor seems like a good option for any iPhone.
Kyhl
A hammer and concrete floor seems like a good option for any iPhone. Fox 9 just did a story about recovering personal information from "cleaned" phones. Their conclusion matched yours but for different reasons. I already have had 2 questionable responses Don't want to scare you but there have been scams on phone deals. Usually perpetrated by the alleged seller to take the money of the buyer though. Depending on the responses you're getting there may be some concern about that.
Jim Almquist
It was more along the line of buying the phone for a mate overseas.
Whoaru99
The old, "I'll send a (fake) money order." routine?
Jim Almquist
I did not wait for anymore info. I just deleted the email. If it smells fishy it more than likely is
