mallardnwalleye
People have called on me twice.CO says "someone called that you have a spinner" Do you? (early part of the season).CO "How many ducks do have?" "Is that it?" "I am going to have to look further as we have a call of someone shooting an overlimit of ducks" Obviously none were true but some people sure see things out there that ain't there. crawler harness
Opening day about 6-8 yeers ago, back when it was a 9am start. We had some jokers shooting half hour before sunrise(5 or 6 guys). After the first shots rang out and I was on the horn calling TIP, It took me a second to soak in that some yeh whoos were doing this. Never heard though, but almost certain they were busted. My buddy that was on the other end of the lake called it in aswell and the gal told him that they were aware of the situation that there had been numerous calls. dan z
I have called and I have never heard the outcome. The call was about a group of guys not going after there sailors. I knew they had there ducks and they stayed and still blasted away. I think they stayed because they thought it was funny shooting the ducks working me and they would blast them on the second turn. ctlfdr
I got a great one. My family farms and we had a pile of corn stalk bales near the highway. It was december and lots of snow. Pheasants were eating corn around the bales. Some donkey decides his going to snipe one off the pile. My dad drives by and sees all this going on, so he turns around gets out of the truck and shoots to scare the birds. Half hour later warden calls with a tip complaint that he was shooting at pheasants from the road. My dad tells him the whole story. That its his farm and this guy that called in was the one who was breaking the law.He told him he would be glad to file trespassing against the guy that called him in. I don't think that he was charged. Just a lot of idiots out there.
chillincarp870
i called in once, it was the last day of the huntable duck season on my lake due to thick ice coming, some guys that i'm not very fond of were well behind the refuge signs, i got on the phone immediately and contacted the local CO, unfortunately he was in a court case that day and couldn't make it on the lake. I've watched these guys closely every year to make sure that they arn't breaking the law, that is one thing i don't have patience for. would have loved to see them get their gear confiscated. goldenbobby
I was hunting by myself in mid october. It was me then I seen a group of 3 hunters across from me. time was about 9am not much flying when I looked up I seen a swan fly over head. I almost pulled up on it. I thought to myself "stupid swan almost got shot". Itwent around the pond and in front of the group of hunters then I heard one shot and seen the swan flare back then quickly a second shot then the swan fell. I couldn't beleave what I saw. I got on my phone called a DNR officer that I knew she told be she would send some one out. I picked up my decoys walked up to my car and waited for the dnr officer to show up, 45 min. went buy then I seen a truck pull up. It was the officer, He asked if they were still down there I told him "If they hadn't picked up in the last 45 min. they were still down there". Him and I walked down to the water sneeking along the brush line. I looked around a small clump of brush and I told the officer "there they are". We went back to his truck and he told me to wait and he was going to talk with them. 3 hours later he comes back. they made 2 arrests, one guy for shooting the swan and the other guy for hunting while intoxicated, they also confiscated 2 shotguns and 1 AR-15 that they had out with them duck hunting. harvey lee
I have heard back from the Co on 2 different issues. Both were convicted.I would assume that with all the calls they get, it would be tough to get to every incident right away. Tough to be in 2 places at one time.
