Black Betty ice reels

Which one, the 6061 or the base model?

I have the 6061 and love the way the line flies off the reel. The smallest jig just drops like a rock without having to pull any line or shake the rod tip. I haven't been able to test the drag yet. Maybe this weekend if I can hook into a big one on Mille Lacs.

I have the base model and like it I think its a great reel for panfish but you have to get use to locking it out when you set the hook or the line will spin and you will miss the fish. I only used on perch and gills so far I wish it had a drag but have learned how to fish with it I just keep my palm on the back when I set the hook

Hate mine....freezes up, too fine of a line between too tight and too loose....brought it out half dozen times and every time I have it set aside within 5 minutes and using the old faithful spinning reels. I was hoping for a better experience....not there for me unfortunately.

I will add that buddies that have the Clam product love those. I do think 13 Fishing puts out great product overall and am glad they are in the "ice" business now. I bet they have more products "up their sleeves" in the near future for us ice guys!
