I don't want to hijack the other thread that mentioned this product but it intrigued me and I was wondering if anyone else that has one could tell me more about it? How much fish can you fry at one time? is there a way to tell the temp of the oil? When we do fish fries we usually do it with the larger family, so I would need to be able to do more than a few pieces at a time. Any information would be great.

I was interested after reading that thread too. I googled it (duh:) and the fish basket looks pretty small to me. And of course they want to jack you extra for the hose to hookup to a 20 lb. tank. Think I'll hang onto my 100 bucks.

If you're looking for something for a slightly larger fish fry, google "10 qt Fish fryer". I have one that hooks up to a propane tank and they are GREAT!

You could also purchase the larger pot and you'd be set for deep frying turkeys.

This is what i use.

Quetico-Superior-Deep-Fryer

My neighbor gave it to me along with the coleman camp stove it fits on. Not sure how to post link so you will have to google the product. Nice if you go camping or travel. Not sure if they are still available though? I cook for 15 people with it in batches of course but it does work well.

I have a Frying Saucer and LOVE IT! You're right, the basket is small, but the beauty of it is, when the fish is done, you just keep it on the outside of it and the grease flows back into the well and the fish stays HOT on the aluminum outer ring.

Most of my fish frys are for just 3 or 4 people, but every year we do one for the whole family and I've never thought it was too small.

I understand they are hard to find. Last year at the Midwest Sport Show in Minneapolis, there were several vendors selling them for pretty cheap, like $40.

Been using them for about 4 years now and I love it! Great for doing a quick fry out on the ice. Have used it to cook fish, chicken fried steak, mushrooms, green beens, jalepeno poppers, onion rings and last fall we used it to cook up some deep fried duck strips and put them on tortilla's out in the field! Don't need much oil and clean up is quick and easy. Is it the best for a big fish fry no is it handy, portable and easy YES!
