Gillfisher
I talked to the Jiffy rep at one of the recent ice fishing shows and he said they can be laid down with the muffler facing down. I hauled mine that way today and did not have any oil leaking issues
lispeej
You could also lay it with the black box facing up. It is the same side as the fill/drain hole.

traveler
I've had mine since they came out...I try to always put it down the way you're suppossed to, but sometimes I forget, or a buddy lays it down wrong, etc...No leaking at all to this point, I think they just try to ward off potential problems. EJ
They will leak oil and not run right if not laid down per instructions. Found out hard way. Otherwise love it just have to be careful when transporting.
