Effects of road salt spray on ATV

lanningjw

Question

Using my 2005 King Quad on milacs. Gonna trailer it up on 169 with out a salt shield on the trailer, its a open 4 X 8 trailer behind my Chev pick up.

Will the road salt damage (rust) the ATV? does it matter? I guess I could load it in the bed of the pickup and put the flip houses on the trailers?

What do you think?

Do whatever you can to minimize it getting hit with road spray! I am in the same boat.....2004 artic cat....trailered to winni and back couldnt wash it for a few days and that was all it took to get the rust going. speedo cable also seized eventually. I will never trailer it without a cover anymore or not wash it immediately after a trip.

After bring it up to the Red Door from Plymouth it did have alot of road salt. I was able to take several buckets of hot water and soap and clean her up.

I am so happy pulling my Otter pro thermal cabin with the ATV around the lake. I mounted my hummingbird with a Ram handle bar mount. Its so cool to be able to know where your going with GPS and the Lakemaster chip. I think I have a good set-up. Now if I could only find the fish!

Just as bad as any snowmobile. That's why they have covers for them. Go to Fleet and pick up a cheap ATV cover and strap it on so it doesn't blow off. Once it warms up next spring and you give it a good cleaning is when you will see all the salt damage. frown
