Strikemaster 2000 rewind starter

eurolarva

Question

Anybody here ever worked on one of these. I have it apart. The rope broke and Drock is closed. Does the new rope have a knot on the end or some kind of pin. I tied a new knot on the old rope but it keeps coming off. Not sure how tight to set the spring either. I did 30 half turns before putting the rope in. Is there some kind of trick to keep the rope from coming off?

I tried to fix mine before but after 15 minutes of pure HELL, I ordered a new one online. Seen a video on YouTube of a guy rewinding his with some tyraps holding it together.....still looked like a bich!

Some use knots and some use a wedge(pin).

To me it sounds like your rope it too short and your pulling it out and against your knot.

Still the knot should hold for a while.

You should have a couple wraps on the spool after a normal pull.

Normal pull is, the arm holding the auger fully extended. The Pull arm should go only to your chest. We're talking 3' or less of pull.

They have awesome prices there. Carb rebuild kit, spark plug and the fuel line was all under ten bucks. To buy the rewind spring and socket was 17 bucks and for the technically challenged you can buy the complete rewind housing spring and rope all ready to go for 40 bucks. Finding this place is like a gold mine.
