LeSueur County

Didn't get a chance to hunt but did do some scouting on Saturday afternoon and saw 0 geese. Lots & lots of ducks though, all the little ponds are full of water and also low areas of feilds. Duck opener looks good.

Hunted south of Fergus Falls on Sunday and in the time we could safely get onto the water with all the T-storms and the heat, we ended up with 4 honkers. Lots of geese filtered in after sunset! WOW!

Lots and lots of Pintails, Mallards and Teal! They were flying all day long and gave us some spectacular flight shows!

Hunted Mower county also. Shot 15 Sunday 4 Monday. X pattern worked well Sunday as there were 2 groups in the field we were hunting. They only shot 1 bird and that one was coming into our spread. not many birds the next day as they were educated quickly and went to another field.

Shot 1 on Sun, headed to LQP monday saw only 3 geese leaving Marsh Lake, scouted this morning in Carver Co., all geese headed to sewer ponds and small city lakes, NOT GOOD.

Hunted in Rice County on Sunday morning. Three of us shot 6 in the morning. Went to a field by Farmington in the afternoon. Had a flock of eight come in and we got 5. Then it rained and rained and rained. Didn't go out on Monday.

I didn't hunt this year yet, but have to comment on the sewer ponds and small inner city ponds.I saw lots and lots of geese this Monday on the way back from the lake. And as stated by ozzy169, they were all in on the pot holes, ponds and sewer holds .Not one bird sighted out were you could legaly shoot them. They sure get smart after the first volley of shots!!!!!!!

Well, we thought we had everything planned out, and would get a good number of birds. I now know why they call it a wild goose chase.......with the terrible stormy weather, the geese just didn't cooperate. We set up in a downpour, lightning, thunder, and a whole crapload of mosquitos. Spent the day laying in the mud, and managed 1 goose with 5 guys........oh well, there's always next time. Just found a promising field last night....S.A.

BemidjiDux, let's hear some details man!

Spent sunday morning biting my lip and my other lip and another if I had one. Got to the field early and walked the dekes out and began to set up for the hunt and it was going to be one to remember! Another party pulled into the field. No problem the field was big enough for both setups and plenty of geese to be had. They proceded to set up less than 100yds DOWN WIND from our position and thought nothing of it. I couldn`t convince my other two hunters to move and move now regardless of where the birds have been feeding. They will shoot all the birds even if they wondered into there dekes. Two words, common courtesy.
You know who you are. I want you all to know I don`t rip on fellow hunters in person or on this site but I couldn`t stand it anymore. I hope you all have a safe early season and get em with there feet hanging.

Flipemripem Next year you should scout the area more that 1 day in advance and maybe you will know where everyone is hunting. Permission was sealed 2 weeks in advance by our group not 12 hours before the opener. the 4 that were shot Monday were shot in another field later that day. No hard feelings just spend some more time in the area and we would have worked something out. Tuff to change plans at 5:30 am in the dark.

In nobodys defense, I've gotten permission, scouted, and even get there early to set up and have someone set-up on the same field, MORE THAN ONCE!!!, very madning, I started to recheck with landowners on how flooded with other groups the field will have, on opening morning.

went out at 5 am. today before school to see if i could get a shot or two. at 7:15 a loner came right into the dekes with it's landing gear out. ended up packing up at 7:45, only to see another 4 geese fly right over the field (2 loners, one pair). Without school, we could've had 5 easy. Will be out tomorrow as well.

Went out Sunday Morning and seen a ton of birds, but the field they were in had already grown back up quite a bit and then they decided to visit a field that they were having a thrashing bee in and the geese, they did not mind. We did get 3 birds even though we were not in such a great field.
Sat during the Lightning storm that night on a very promising field, but nothing but mud and misquitoes. The night hunt for me has been just terrible. Any ideas why they are not flying until real late?

Where abouts in Mower county do you hunt. Our group hunted Sunday and had some come but did'nt fire a shot (A little rusty I guess) Were you hunting near Rose Creek by any chance? We watched of crew clean up on some in the field nest to us.
We did manage to kill 9 on Monday near Adams. I have been watching about 100 leave each evening but have't had time to kill em. Heading to Detroit Lakes tomarrow to hunt but will be back on Sunday eve to scout. If you are from the area maybe we could hook up for a hunt some morning or eve. There are still plenty of birds to be had.

I was hunting near Leroy. I have relatives in the area, but live in the cities. My weekends are usually pretty full from now to the middle of November, but shoot me an email and maybe I'll be able to find some time to get back down to that area.

Was in DL for the weekend hunting was very slow. We managed to nail 4 on Sat and 2 sunday morning. We did'nt see the geese that have been there in past years. Does any one know what happed to them. It was common to see 1000 at any given time in the morning we only seen about 200 each morning. Tough hunt.
Labby,
I haven't scouted for a few days I will be out tomarrow morning to see if they are still around. Hopfully hunt tuesday night or wed morning.
