Idea if whats a good unit etc..

All show fish, some have more features than others, I haven't owned a Vex in years, don't overlook the other brands

What do you fish for and how deep? Fl-18 is what I've had for years and I love it. My friend has the FL-22 and he loves that.

Go to Gander/Cabela's and check them out for yourself and see what one fits your needs. You'll want the zoom.

You could also go refurbished - check out the Motor Clinic in Bloomington off Old Shakopee road.

I would get a new VX-1 or a used LX-3tc or LX-5... different brand, but better flasher for the price

Cant go wrong with an fl-18.I had an lx5 and didnt care for it.I have the fl-22 and really like it.

I bought a new marcum vx1 pro last year and love it compared to my dads old fl8. Nice soft side case, zoom feature, comes with a better battery.

Can't go wrong any of the units from vexilar. The FL-18 and FL-22 would be the unit I would recommend.

I am a big fan of the "flat "screen Vexilars. The Fl-12, Fl-20 and the Fl-22. You can see them from the side and when it snows the "cup" does not fill up with snow.

I too like the flat screen Vexilars. I have the FL22 and absolutely love it. For years I ran an FL8 and never had an issue with it other than needing to replace the battery. Sold it two years ago and it is still being used without issue. I have also owned a Marcum LX5, but prefer to stick with Vex. The flat screen is awesome in inclement weather fishing outside. I fish outside 95% of the time so there is a pretty good chance I will hit some snow while fishing.
