Which Sled

Last week I got the last one they had "on hand" at BP -FF, for $130.00.

Took a while for them to find it,

Friday and Sat I modified my Old Eskimo Quik Flip II to fit on it.

I must say it is working out pretty darn good. I have read on the forums of people doing it.

I modified the bracket's, so that it will fit under my toneou cover, and the 64" length lets me close the tailgate.

DTro Thanks for the heads up on the deal.

I picked up the pelican combo at Costco. Got a 75"x30"x14" sled with hyfax hitch and cover for 150$. The sled seems just as beefy as the otter wild. Hyfax were already installed. I just have to put the hitch together. The hitch is beefy with a nice powder coat finish. Cover fits snug but still has enough play to stack stuff higher then the sled sides. I can put my base camp hub,8" Eskimo auger, big buddy heater,3 rod bags, 3 fold up chairs,2 flashers and more misc. Gear. Overall im glaf I bought this over the otter combo. The xtra length helped a lot and the sled has less angle on the front making the bottom of the tub almost as long as the top. The otter seemed smaller at the bottom due to the steep front angle. Both are great deals if you ask me. The otter at 130$ was my first choice until I couldn't find one.

MNCPRGUY, don't worry. As my good friend once said, you're gonna get #$%&* sometimes in life and you're gonna come out ahead sometimes and in the end, you're even!

I think I will have to pick this up. I don't have a wheeler to pull the sled with yet but I just bought the 4000 BigFoot and it sits OK on the top of my Otter sport sled but my wife actually encouraged me to get a bigger sled! So I have to now that I'm getting into this ice fishing thing more. The towbar will come in handy when I do get the wheeler, probably in a year or two. One thing at a time. So what do the hyfax do anyway, make it cruise along smoother, save on wear and tear on the sled? Or both?

definitely on the wear and tear because the hyfax will be drug on the ice if there's no snow not the sled bottom. Cheaper to replace 50$ worth of hyfax over the whole sled getting a hole in it. I hear it helps it track better behind a wheeler or sled. I drag mine by hand or drive so I don't know if that's true. I would think that with the rigid hitch the sled won't be able to wander around to much anyway.

Yeah, I know.I don' t think she knows it costs $130, so I won't mention that! She and the kids actually went Christmas shopping for me yesterday. I made up a list of ice fishing stuff on the wish list and dropped them of at Runnings while I went shopping for them. : )

I didn't do it quick enough, obviously, as I went to order it online this morning (local FFs didn't have them) and all the packages are now gone. : P Looks like I'll have the 4000 strapped to the top of the sled until this deal comes around again (maybe next year!)
