Buck grunt or Doe bleat?

Recommended Posts

If I am going to use rattlin horns, then I use a grunt, then start out lightly rattlin and then really get into it for about 2-3 minutes. I have also take a plastic grocery bag and filled it with 3-4 more and when I rattle, I crunch the bag a few times to make it sound like the bucks are moving and stepping in the leaves.

I try to make it as realistic as possible. I will be doing this tomorrow from my climber for shotgun opener.

A couple of years ago I read in the Outdoor news an article written by Gary Clancy about this very subject. He said to carry both, start of with a few grunts followed by a couple of bleats followed by a few more grunts. I must say It works cause I have a 171 5/8s on the wall because of it, granted thats gross and net is 162 4/8s but last year when I stopped 12 in the same spot I became a believer!
