Hand Warmers

Had some new heat factory brand that didn't work this past weekend and have never had problems in the past. Is their a certain brand that works better than others? Thinking about going with the fuel heated ones instead of messing with the packs all the time. Thoughts?

I had the same problem with some I bought at Fleet farm.

Some would work and others where not giving any heat at all.

My son hand one of the large ones and left it in his pocketin the truck overnight and it was nice and toasty 16 hours later?

I've generally thought the Heat Factory ones were a bit better than the Grabber Mycoal ones when I've used them. I bought some of those hand & toe combos for .79 @ Fleet Farm last week. I used a set Saturday am & they worked fine. I think it was around 25 last Saturday morning in our area.

I only buy the big ones and when I do I make sure they are "soft" while still in the package. I don't know how to describe it but it must mean they aren't as old as the defective ones. I've also found the bigger ones have way less problems than the smaller ones. I put one in a muff that goes around my waist and wear thin gloves so when I take my hands out to shoot they don't get cold holding the cold gun.

And yes on the Heat Factory ones vs other brands.

Age kills the shake warmers. I have too many old ones I need to use up, most of them still work great but every now and then they warm up but only go 2 hours instead of 10 or 24 or whatever they are rated for.

coming from the South, warm hands and toes are paramount

{the ones I like are hot hands brand hekuva lot better than heat factory IMO}

When I open a fresh pack and sit on stand during the morning

I put 'em in a sealed sandwich baggie when I go back for lunch.

That keeps the oxygen off of them so they stop working when your not hunting. If I go back at noon or the next morning and reuse them, they crank right back up. Leaving in the baggie for awhile they'll still get depleted. But I've had no trouble using them like that.
