Anybody else not like the lx-7 and lx-9?

I have been a MarCum fan from day one. I currently own the LX-5 which I love. It works great. I do like the idea of a bigger screen and a flat one. I think the LX-7 and 9 are way to big to be bringing in my portable. Will I be stuck with the Vexilar hd-22. I like a few features of the Vexilar, however I have never been much of a fan. Like a Ford guy being stuck buying a Chevy or Vice Versa. What do others think of the new MarCums

Like Chumba said check out the LX6 it is similar in size to your LX5. the LX6 is selling $599.99. this will be the unit for people that don't like the large size of the LX7 or LX9. I have a LX7 and love it. I may even Buy a LX6 as a second unit so if people come fishing with me they have a flasher too if they don't have their own.

Side question. I am thinking of upgrading to the lx6 if I can get a good deal at the St. Paul ice show. I picked up the base model vx1 last year. What would a good asking price be for it? Obviously in mint condition.

I'd start at 70 to 75 % of new cost and go no lower then 60% of new. it depends on how fast you want to sell it.

new that unit is $300 so I would think starting it at $225.00 would be good but don't go less then $175.00.

I've used the lx7 a few times and I gotta say the slight lag from real time gets annoying. Anyone notice this too?

what software is your unit running. the newest software is version 2.9. if you're not running 2.9 go to marcums HSOforum and download the update and then download it into your unit. I personally haven't noticed it on my unit but then again I am running 2.9. the update fixed issues with the first run units that had the original software on them.

You should not have any lag time on your unit.

As far as size I think the 6 would be a great size for someone looking at a more compact unit. Myself Im going to go with the biggest screen possible. I dont use a camera because my waters around here are just too stained.

There is no lag in the display.

I don't mind the LX-7 in my porty, actually I really like it in there.

I do a lot of hole hopping with it too and that's where I have mixed feelings on it .... it's easy to see and I love all the info, but it can get kind of big and heavy to haul around if you're really doing a lot of moving around and trudging through snow, etc. There have a been a few times where I've left the LX-7 in the porty and used an LX-5 or an Ice-45 for hole hopping. It depends on how much I'm moving and how deep the snow is (I still use the LX-7 more than the flashers) .......

I think the LX-6 will take care of the hole hopping concern I have with the LX-7, it's a really nice combination of screen size and overall size and weight.

You can see them all, and the pricing, HERE

I looked at the LX-7 today. ya it's huge. I think I may buy the LX-6 if I decide to buy one this year. I don't have much interest in the camera personally and I think the LX-6 will be plenty big even in a split screen mode. I currently look at a vx-1 dial which isn't very big at all. So I'm used to it. They sure seem like sweet units. I love the features more than the screen size myself. Seems like it will make my fishing game that much better. I think I read you can adjust the ping speed. Could this be why he is having lag? maybe a low ping setting will make it appear there is lag happening? Not a sonar guru but just a thought.
