Which reel?

Looking to get a new reel for a 34" Thorne Bros MH Walleye Sweetheart. I have narrowed it down to Pflueger Trion, Shimano Sienna, and Tica GV500. I'm only looking to spend 30-40 bucks. Any Suggestions?

I run Abu Garcia 100ui reels an I absolutely love them!! extremely smooth an a quite drag system for a good price. I also like the Pflueger trion reels as well. very smooth and I like the classy look to them.

out of those three, my vote goes for the sienna, its a great reel. Since your going MH i would go with the 1000 size.

Me too. I like them so much I even switch them over to my open water UL rigs.

I have about 8 Sienna's (open water and hard water). For $30 I love them. I like the 500's for fishing Panfish and then have a couple 1000's for my bigger ice rods. I would recommend the 1000 if you'll be fishing a little bigger of baits.

I have narrowed it down to Pflueger Trion,

I've got 4 of these and have found them to be as reliable as the president micros (have 8) and better overall than the Tica SS (have 7). I think the batch of Trion 500s are going on their 5th season.

I run Abu Garcia 100u or 300u's on virtually all of my spinning rods. I do have a Trion and don't mind that, but Abu Garcia Cardinal 100u or 300u both fit your price range and are excellent reels.

Shimano I think is better than the abu Garcia. I have both and I prefer the Shimano

Shimano Sienna, theses are the best reel on the market for the money, I started using them on all of my ice rods, and am very happy.

personally pfleuger gets my vote but id go with the president! affordable yet high quality!

Matt Johnson turned me on to the Sienna a few years back and for the $ its a great ice fishing reel. I havent had any issues with them in the past 2-3 years I have ran them on my ice rods.

So for that specific rod I have... it sounds like I should step up to something bigger than a 500 series size reel??

500 would work but the 1000 probably would balance out better.

Presidents on my go to combos, the third rod I pick up has a tiny T pinnacle. Wish I could find more tiny T's love that reel

Of the reels listed by the op I would pick the Sienna. Have had very good luck with them. In general I set my spinning reel limit at the same $30 - $40 as mentioned above. I have found some good deals on higher end reels on the big auction site. Just something to consider if you've got time and don't need the new reel tomorrow.

Sienna's are nice. I do think the pflueger president is one of the best 50.00 and under reals on the market though. I guess I would blow my budget and spend the extra 10-15 bucks over the 40 for one. Especially on a thorne bros rod. But the sienna's are sweet to. I have a few of each for open and hard water rods.
