Carrying rangefinder

What does everyone use to keep their rangefinder within reach? I usually wear a fanny pack and keep it in a pocket but its not the easiest thing to get out when I need to range something quickly and with minimal movement. Because of this I range spots beforehand but only do a few so I'm sure to remember the yardage. I've tried to figure out a way to attach it to my bino harness but haven' come up with anything that I'm satisfied with.

I just started carrying one this year. I made a neck strap, hang it on the neck, and just tuck it under my safety harness when not actively using it. Keeps it out of the way when drawing my bow or otherwise moving

I have used the "range snap" for a few years and really like it...look it up on the internet. Works great!

I place it diagnolly across my chest it stays snug against me with no interference when I shoot.

I range things (trees, landmarks, stumps) all the time and try to remember what the yardages are for when the moment of truth arrives. If I actually see deer, I put it away. I always carry mine in my hunting pants cargo pocket.

I also use a range snap. Nate, if you hunt with a bino-buddy type system I could help you make up a home made range snap with very little effort and it'd probably cost you a couple bucks for parts. Remind me to show you mine when I get back from MT and we can figure out how to rig one up pretty easily.

Sounds good, Scoot. Meant to mention it today but got side tracked and forgot.

I usually range certain things from the stand but I've found that when deer actually come through that I can't remember which yardage was which. Anything 30 and under I'm fine with but outside that it gets to be more guessing.

Just watched the demo video and that's what I'm looking for. Just need to find the clip to go onto my harness. I have everything else after that.

Yes- I think with a trip to Mac's Hardware you'd be able to find what you need pretty quickly. Be sure to have a strap over the rangefinder and your bino buddy strap, otherwise the whole thing bounces a lot.

Nate, instead of the large split ring they use, you might consider paracord or something like that- then there's no metal to make any noise. Basically all you need is something to clip to the bino strap, something to connect that to the rangefinder, and a separate strap to strap the body of the range finder to the bino strap. I have lots of this kind of strap laying around if you want some.

Got it done! Scoot, great minds must think alike. I make a few different things out of paracord and I think it turned out pretty well. The end that clips will clip to my harness comes apart to attach it.

I have a grand total of $2.50 and a half hour into this since I already had some cord scraps laying around.
