chunkytrout
If I had my way, I'd have 20 old sleds in the backyard but I'd have to get divorced first. I dream of the day I can afford my Yamaha VK III but for now 1980 Exciter 440 and the wifes 1984 Excel 340.

bluebill97
I have many old sleds, I race vintage one lungers. my oldest that I race is a 1969 skiroule. I have other old sleds from the 60's but they are not in running condition. If any of you guys have any older sleds with a single sachs or yamaha let me know! I also race a 73 roll-o-flex and a 72 chaparral.

Paul Rohweller
I knew there was some hope! I love old sleds. My current oldie is a 67 sears snowcruiser with matching sleigh. It's a hoot at the oldtimers runs when people see the sears stickers. Look twice and scratch head. lolol Others in my stable in one part or many parts are a 71 and 72 olympic, 68 panther single jlo, 77 cheetah 5000 and were just starting a resto on a 68 372cc single cyl polaris colt for my bro in law. I would love to trade all my cats and ski doos for a decent restorable or better older lynx or puma... The motor in my cheetah is worth that. Dontcha just love it when those high compression singles kick back when your trying to start them? lolol Happy trails and good fishin!! bluebill97
Chunkytrout, Actually no I havn't been up to that one but I race V.O.L.S. (vintage one lunger series) neer Alexandria Mn, I also race in Pine River at the one lunger 100. Which is a 100 mile race on a lake, boy do the old sleds drop like flies in that race. Its hard to keep em all in one piece for 100 miles of full throtle mogle jupin raciing. Its allot of fun and if anyone want to get involve with V.O.L.S. let me know. 1973 and older single cylinder sleds fan cooled engines.

chunkytrout
I saw a crazy one at a jobsite. Not sure the year but it's an AKTIV 390 Dual Track Single Ski. On the handle bars was a lever for applying clutch to either track. Cool old beast!

AJ
Last year I acquired a '72 Polaris Colt (250) and just picked up a '73 (150?). They were a "his and hers" set. The 250 ran GREAT for me last winter. Always started. The breaks don't work and the headlight is VERY dim (I made my own headlight for safety reasons). Otherwise, runs like a champ. The '73 is in excellent shape, runs fine, and has not been driven in several years. Does anyone know where I could get manuals for these? Or, can anyone recommend a good repair shop in the metro area (when needed). Any ideas on how to fix the breaks on the '72?
bluebill97
I know a bit about these old polaris's so if you have any questions, you can contact me at[email protected] if you need tips or help. I also have a 72 250. The brakes on the are hydrolic, you need to make sure your line running from your brake on the handle bars to the secondary clutch is good. (no leaks) make sure you have good connections and you may need to clean up your lever on the handle bars, make sure your piston is pushing in when you pull the lever. if not you may have to replace it. hope this helps. Guest
Recently I saw a 1971 Artic Cat-King Kat 800 3 cylinder with 68 original miles on it go for $17,000 on hsolist. A lot of people wanted it. The person that bid on it first was the last to bid on it in the last seconds before the auction ended.

Guest
In high school I was given several non running Johnson and Evinrude snowmobiles from the mid to late 60's. I was able to get 2 1967 Johnson's running, and 1 1969 Evinrude Skeeter. I used one of the Johnson Wide Tracks with a twin cylinder opposed motor for 8 or 9 years on my trap line and a round the farm. Top speed of about 20 mph, but it would go through the deepest snow without getting stuck. It was heavy though once it did get stuck!
