2013 Otter Fishhouse Question

Anyone heard if Otter is coming out with anything new this year after being bought out? I want to buy a thermal house but don't care for the ice camo color? Just curious if they are changing the color options on the houses. I like the pole setup in the Otter better than Canvascraft also.

I just picked up a Pro Cabin directly from Otter and was told there will be no major changes for 2013.

They were not bought out. Its a business relationship with rapala just like marcum. NOT like strikemaster where they acquired the assets of strikemaster.

Thanks for clarification. I sent an email to Otter and they stated that the colors will remain the same this year. Kind of disappointed but may have to bite the bullet.

I will take the EMT that canvas craft uses over the square tubing. Sticky poles arent fun for anybody.

The poles on the new otters are second to none. I have never seen anyone have problems with them binding. Heck, the top tube is about a 1/4 larger inside diameter than the OD of the smaller tube.

The older models (which I have), were NOT real smooth. The even older models with round poles were junk IMO.

I wish I could upgrade the poles without buying a shell too. I purchased a new shell last year from a fellow FMer and really like it, just my poles stink.

I have Canvas Craft and have no pole problems either, their insulation

is thicker too.

I think Canvas Craft makes a great product. I've just owned too many fishhouses with round tubes that bound. I can't imagine that all round tubes aren't alike. Although I have heard good things about CanvasCraft.

Otters support poles are top notch. I havent had a issue with one since they went to the square tubing and now with the inserts inside the female poles they work like a dream. No metal on metal the cause any burs.

I used the new Thermals all last year and loved them. Saved money on propane and the wind didnt cause any of that annoying "slapping" like other canvases can do.

I also would like to see a different color option instead of the blue in the Pro Series and wish they offered it in the black ice color, but you won't be disappointed...the Otter house is well worth it. I've been using their houses for over 10 years now and have no plans to change.
