fishinjosh98
Well, I have never been trout fishing and now I am going for the first time. Dont even have a clue of what im doing and the people who I am going with have never gone either. Any lure tips or anything would be helpful. Al I know is I think the name of the lake is lake shakopee.
JBMasterAngler
It's not the ideal time of year to chase trout in lakes. But it only requires basic stuff. Bring a selection of mepps spinners (#2 or smaller), small floating minnow raps of various colors, and small cleo spoons. Catching them on ultra light rods is a blast! There's also the ol' reliable crawler under a bobber. You can basically troll for them in any depth. They'll probably be a little deeper this time of year, but you can find them fairly close to the surface. Otherwise you can cast out spoons and count them down a few seconds before retrieving. cylinder
I've always wanted to fish for brown trout in a lake but never knew when was the best time, etc. When is a good time? I caught one once in late May pulling a crawler but that was the first and only.
itchmesir
my guess is early and later in the year when water temps are lower
Mnfisher
New to trout fishing too. Caught my first Browns ever this spring right after ice out on Grindstone. Near shore. Was actually fishing for crappies with a minnow/hook/bobber. Caught 4 in less than 2 hours. Fun and they tasted great!
