Tying spinners

Recommended Posts

I get the supplies from various outlets. Once you get the main supplies, it's easy to mix and match. I found the hardest part was learning to tie the different knots. For some reason snell knots were hard for me to figure out, and then tying them like you like them is also important. I really haven't found a good outlet though for different types of blades. That'll be the next step. I just started with the various pre-made rigs I've had from the last 10+ years and used those blades and a couple packs of the northland hologram ones for now. The quick change blade systems are a must have!

The Northland Holographic "Baitfish-Image" blades are a very good blade and surpisingly used by many of the walleye pros on the FLW. These are readily available in the tackle stores in Minnesota.

Some other good sources for some cool blades are JT Custom Tackle, Big Eye Custom Lures, Silver Streak, Tommy Harris Blades and many more as well. Bass Pro Shops has nice blades developed by P&K, Lindy has nice blades now and I just saw some really cool blades from Berkley. I found their harnesses in Pierre, SD this last week but haven't been able to find them on the net yet. Same store had the new #9 Flicker Shads and Gary Parsons was saying we don't even have these from Berkley yet... how'd they get them. smile

Beads are available from the same guys.

Hooks and line you can get nearly anywhere.

Have fun! Its an addiction!

Check out Minnkota Tackle ("MNkotatackle"), Minnesota made custom blades...doubt you'll beat the price....hand-painted, fish-catching patterns. Full-rigs available, but it's the blades that have me hooked.
