Hows the crazy weather going to effect you this fall?

Recommended Posts

My area around Bemidji got flatten by 80 mph winds. I was all ready by the end of May, all I had to do was sit back and wait til opener. Now at least 4 trees I had prepped are snapped off and 1 permanant for rifle is snapped off. Not to mention trees and brush all over the trails I trimmed for enrty/exit routes.

Northeast region got pounded by rain and washed out. Pretty bad judging by the pics.

Yet, go south aways and theres drought conditions. Challenging year or just another year of Minnesota weather?

Some of my woods, groves, stands have been blown down this year. Ive used the ATV and chainsaw to open up the woods and used the deadfall to create travel corridors that should benefit my hunting. These old crappy boxelder groves near me just dont stand up to any wind at all. It can be a mess.

Mother Nature seems to be throwing a few curve balls lately. Just gotta dance to whatever tune shes playin'! wink

Where we hunt, everything is just fine in North Dakota. I know my 2 big box stands are fine and we pull all the others down for the winter.

Have about 3 ladder stands to get yet that appeared late last fall-tresspassers. I like when they leave me nice stands. In the past years, I have had a few of mine stolen but I am still way ahead.

Harvey, funny how some people are so brazen to put stands on private property and expect to find their stands when they come to hunt! Ever put camera's up to see who would do that?

I had a real nice API stand up in a tree that got hit by high winds and trying to find that tree was impossible because I couldn't tell which tree the stand was in!

Slimingrizzly really has the right attitude. Gotta take what she throws at us, and "make lemonade".

Just west of you, up here in NW Minnesota, we're experiencing some pretty hot dry conditions. Everything seems to be hangin' in there, but we could sure use some rain! At least in and around TRF.

If this keeps up it's a pretty sure bet we'll see the majority of waterfowl migrate south further west into the Dakotas again. Our big game will be concentrated near agricultural food sources and WATER...which I suppose will make finding them a bit easier this fall.

Sure feel for you guys with the forests flattened. The "stuff" we can always replace, but the loss of those beautiful big trees...it takes SO many years to get those back. cry

All those trees down can create a prime scenario for insect infestation and arboreal disease as well. Best of luck to you all with that.
