Fishing in warm water

Sunday the temp gauge on my boat showed that Bald Eagle was 82 degrees. Steve McComas, the Lake Doctor, has indicated that a condition called anoxia forms when the deeper water gets warm, typically starting in July and possibly lasting until September. His concern was that this water that has low oxygen allows phosphorous to be released from the lake sediments, causing the dramatic decline in the clarity of the water.

Got me wondering about fishing. Many folks seem to want to go deep for walleye later in the summer. Yet it would seem that since the oxygen level is lower that the fish would avoid these areas.

I don't have enough experience to know if this is what happens. Any ideas?

Once a lake thermoclines little new oxygen makes it below that level. If it stays that way long enough the deep water can be depleted of oxygen, depending on the lake, vegetation, bottom composition etc. Only way to know for sure is to measure it with the kind of meter few of us have. Looking for fish with the depth finder will give an indication since, while fish might not be too smart they won't stay where there is not enough oxygen.

I was just thinking about getting one of those. I checked on the famous on line auction house and I can't tell if the rigs there are the whole thing or only parts. Seems they can get a bit pricey.
