These are some shots out of a September 1972 Fishing Facts magazine. I was looking for some Army info for a friend and came across these mags and had to laugh. The graphs were called "Magic Boxes" in the article. Also threw in some shots from a sporting goods store.

We had the Lowranc Lo-k-tor, I remember my dad was really excited when he got it. I remember thinking that it would magically call in the fish and show us where to catch them From what I recall, they didn't work real well in open water situations in a moving boat so it ended up on a garage shelf somewhere. I would love to have one now just for the nosstalgia. Thanks for brining back some great memories!

Back in 72 the Lowrance Lo-K-Tor would have cost me a weeks wages when I was working as a reporter for the Free Press in Mankato. Wonder what the same sort of relationship is in today's market. Hopefully less than a week's wages.

Dad and I went halves on our first Lo-K-Tor. I was 13/14 years old and it was 5 weeks of my pay. My take home from cleaning at Fanny Farmer candy store was $12.58 a week. I also bought my Remington 870 Wingmaster while I was working at the candy store. Bought it from Target for $129.00 all by myself as a 14 year old. Times have changed just a little bit....

I was at a thrift store the other day looking for a serious wardrobe upgrade and I saw some old fishing magazines (though not from 1972). It's kind of amazing how quickly the photos look dated.

I looked at a few of the articles, and there were some uncanny similarities between them. If gear changes quickly, the content of the articles could've been written yesterday. I guess there aren't THAT many ways to Lindy rig a walleye and T-rig for largemouth.

Another one for the Lowrance Fish Lo-K-Tor. I remember when my grandfather got one of those...I wasn't very old, but I remember everyone thinking that it was really quite the deal back then.
