Looking at these motors to repower my 1700 Fisherman. I have been in boats with the Suzi but dont know much about the Merc since it is new this year. Anyone run this new Merc? Pros & cons?

I dont know about the new motor slammer, but i have an 08 verado and love it. I really like the fly by wire (no wire cable) but it messes up all my buddies if they move the boat. Super easy to move the throttle. I hooked on the vrod, but suz would be my next choice. Im thinking youll be happy either way.

My brother and I were out last weekend with his new Alumacraft 198 with a new Suzuki 175 on it. Pretty darn nice motor. Plenty of power, awesome of the hole and whisper quiet while trolling. Can't beat thier warranty either. Looking to re-power my Warrior next year with the 250. I think the Suzuki is every bit as good as any of the other big name motors without paying for the sticker on the side of the engine cover.

I did a lot of research about a year ago when we bought a new motor and I was between the Etec and the Yamaha 4stroke. We went with the Etec, and we like that motor a lot but it was a really tough decision, being everyone here pretty much chimed in Yamaha. So if you havent looked at Yamaha maybe give them a consideration. The guy I fish leauge with has a Merc 4 stroke 200, and it is whisper quiet. In fact if it wasnt for his power steering pump I dont think you would even know it was running. Never been in a Suzuki powered boat so cant chime in on that.
